 June 2008 Meeting Minutes

I. Call to order
President Frank Schneider called to order the regular meeting of the Garfield Clarendon Model Railroad Club at 8:19PM on June 6, 2008.
II. Members Present
Frank Schneider, Eric Lanzl, Bob Lindt, Bob Jaycox, Jim Jansen, Terry Hammond, Jack Dopke, Dave Locke, John Molls, Wes Urschel, and Beverly Urschel
III. Approval of minutes from last meeting
Eric Lanzl read the minutes from the last meeting. The minutes were approved as read.
IV. Treasurer’s Report
a). The treasurers report was read

b). The pop (soda) fund is in arrears. Members are encouraged to please put $.50 in for each pop taken. John Molls donated pop which is gone with no funds to cover it.
V. Layout
a). Jim Jansen has photographed the layout and printed pages with sections of the layout on them and has colored in areas needing scenery. Members can take one of the sheets and begin putting on the scenery.

b). Frank will put a kit together for placement and installation of tell tails at the entrance to the tunnels.
VI. Electrical and Computer
a). Frank thinks he has fixed the problem with the kill blocks in the two loops. With a new circuit, it should now be possible to run long trains in the loops without problems.

b). Wes has installed circuit breakers on the power packs to isolate blocks in the case of a short. It will short only in the block where the short occurs and not on the entire layout.
VII. Old Business
a). Eric has received the Accu Track speedometer and after testing it works well. Bob proposed tying down the speedometer to prevent drops and it being lost. Frank suggested it be kept in the electrical drawer as the point is to be able to move it to where one needs it.

b). Decals are on order and will be here in 3 weeks

c). The formal operation session was cancelled, not enough members present

d). Frank stated that we need to hold a planning session to discuss work on the layout. It will be held on July 10 and a longer meeting is planned for that date.

e). Dave suggested we hold a Saturday cleanout session. Bob will repair de-humidifiers to make it possible to work in the heat. The date will be discussed later.
VIII. New Business
a). The Park District contacted the club about an open house on Saturday from 12 noon until 2PM. They have asked us to run trains at that time. On short notice, Bob Jaycox, Jim Jansen, and Frank Schneider will participate.

b). Dave proposed moving and or replacing the file cabinets and expanding the work table as there is electricity in the area of the table. Frank suggested we hold this off until some other projects are completed.
IX. Adjournment
Frank Schneider adjourned the meeting at 8:49PM.
