Visiting The Club

The Garfield-Clarendon Model Railroad Club meets on Friday evenings from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at the Club's headquarters on Chicago's north side, which is located at 4501 N. Clarendon Ave. -- right off of Lakeshore Drive at Montrose (Clarendon is the 800W block). The Club is housed inside the Clarendon Community Center of the Chicago Park District.

The Friday night meetings are open to visitors, so please stop by.

The last Friday of every month is designated as an "operating night", with all other nights designated as "work nights". Limited operations may take place during "work nights", but the most operations will take place during "operating nights", thus making them the best nights to visit the Club.

Qualification training is available for novice railroaders who want to operate trains on the layout. Likewise, experienced model railroaders are welcome to bring their own equipment to the layout for operation under current member supervision. Since the Garfield Central is now powered by Digital Command Control (DCC), operators who bring their own equipment must have DCC-equipped locomotives. Assistance in programming locomotives for DCC is available at the Club.
