May-September 2005 Work Report
Well, the months of May thru September were filled with vacations, travelling
work assignments, and the like -- so we're going to cover all of the months May through September in
this one report.
New member Rich Sperling has been working on a new repeater panel for Garfield Courthouse, which will
greatly enhance the operations in this small, agricultural village:

Rich discusses the finer points of repeater panels with resident repeater panel expert Frank
Below is the big feed of wires from the Bridgeport panel that will be used for the Garfield Courthouse
repeater panel:

Other work has been taking place up towards the Gaskill Run / Summit area. First, a reinforcing aluminum
beam has been added to the high bridge connecting the big hill with Summit, to keep people's heads from
striking the bridge and disrupting railroad operations:

Initial tests of the beam have confirmed that railroad operations are no longer affected by head impacts, while
the impacted heads have indeed been negatively affected! Another new development in this area is the installation of
highway guard posts along Gaskill Run, as seen below:

Secondly, Club leadership is also in the midst of planning for installation of crossing protection at
Gaskill Run. Below, Pat Reardon and Jim Jansen scope out the job and make some preliminary design
decisions:

Here is a view of the grade crossing in question:

Crossing protection will soon be operable at this grade crossing in Gaskill Run
Lastly, trackwork in Summit continues to be on hold while we wait for more turnouts (which are
now in-hand), but here is a view of the paper mill and associated mill trackage:

In other news, work on the Club's signal system progresses. Below is a view of the new
dwarf signal protecting the westbound passing siding at Williamsport:

Over in Georgetown (or actually underneath), work is progressing on the installation of
more advanced signalling. Below is a shot of the dozen or so new terminal strips that will be needed for
all of the wiring to be installed:

That's about it for this month! We'll be back soon with a report for October.
