December 2005-January 2006 Work Report
Progress continues on the new trackage that's being laid on the GC. To start,
over in Georgetown Yard, the trackage into the new backshop area is complete. All it needs
now is ballast, street paving, and other scenicking and then this facility will be placed into service on the GC.
A "nice job" goes out to Bob Lindt and Terry Hartland for completing this project. Next month we will report
on the pavement that is going in next, in front of the backshop.

A GC 70-tonner parked at the new backshop in Georgetown. The track in front
of the backshop will be paved over so that trucks can gain easy access to rail equipment parked here.
Here is a view of the backshop from the west:

All this track in the back needs is ballast and some scenicking
Tracklaying progress is also being made (albeit slowly) up in Summit, in the vicinity of the new paper mill. Almost all
of the spurs and turnouts are in, all that's left is to fill in any remaining gaps with trackage and then
wire up the entire area. Next month we will report on the tracklaying progress being made by Jim Jansen
over at "Summit West", for the locomotive servicing facility.

The paper mill trackage in Summit continues to evolve.
Down in Garfield Courthouse, Tim Glascott is installing highway guardposts, much as he did at Gaskill Run.
The below shot is of newly-installed posts, some of which have already been painted. Garfield Courthouse is
now a safer place for motorists travelling through:

Lastly, Pat Reardon has reinstalled the turntable at Georgetown. It has been remotored,
and Pat is currently making final adjustments to the indexing. If all goes well, engines will once again
be turning on this turntable soon:

A Santa Fe GP40 is used to test the repaired turntable
That's it for this month! We'll be back soon for a report on February 2006.
