February-March 2006 Work Report
Trackwork up in Summit is finally nearing completion, after many months of effort.
At the current time, all paper mill spurs have been laid, as can be seen in the below shot:

All paper mill spurs are now complete.
The paper mill building itself will likely be cut down in size a little bit, to reveal more of the log-unloading
area behind it. The below overview shows the entire paper mill complex:

The two tracks at bottom left will serve the wood unloading facility. The spur at upper left
will run alongside the kraft mill and will serve as car and engine storage, and there are two spurs
serving the paper mill building itself
Below is a closeup of the siding that runs along the side of the paper mill building. This area will eventually
be outfitted with tank car unloading equipment, for inbound kaolin (clay) shipments.

Over at Summit West, where the new Summit spur adjoins the GC main, tracklaying is nearly complete there as well. Below is
an overview of the helper engine servicing facility that will be going in at this location:

Other work taking place in Summit is a major rewiring (or, more accurately, a major "dewiring") project being spearheaded
by Rich and Mike Sperling, our newest layout wiring experts. Rich and Mike are actually removing several "layers" of unneeded wiring,
which are remnants of DC (analog) operations. Now that the layout runs DCC only, a lot of old wiring can be removed, thus
cutting down on short circuits, power loss, and other issues. Below is an example of some of the wiring being taken out:

Pat Reardon continues to make progress on the newly-indexed turntable at Georgetown. He is
seen working on it in the below shot:

Over in Garfield Courthouse, Tim Glascott has completed his guardpost project:

Lastly, the new backshop in Georgetown continues to evolve. Terry Hartland and Bob Lindt have completed the
installation of the paved area around the front of the structure. All that remains to be done is painting,
scenicking, and final touches:

The new backshop will soon be in service in Georgetown
That's it for this month! We'll be back soon for a report on April-May 2006.
